Chronic Pain Care

The Chronic Pain Clinic is located at the Hotel Dieu Hospital site of Kingston Health Sciences Centre and provides comprehensive pain management to patients throughout Southeastern Ontario. Our program provides patients with information and education, followed by an in-depth initial assessment, treatment plan, wellness promotion, follow-up care, primary care assistance/education, and prescription monitoring where appropriate.

The Program also provides opportunities to support research and knowledge translation about pain within the broader health care system.  In keeping with the Ontario Strategy to Prevent Opioid Addiction and Overdose, our program focuses on prescribing principles and treatments that prioritize patient safety with the goal of decreasing opioid reliance in pain management while increasing the patient’s ability to self-manage their pain and improve their quality of life day-to-day.

To access our care and support services, patients require a referral from their family doctor or another health care professional. If you are a health care professional, you can access our referral form here.

Patient Resources

There is no cure for chronic pain, but it can be managed. Studies have shown that when people actively manage their pain on a daily basis, they get the best results.
