What to bring

We know there is a lot to keep in mind when you are having a baby. It is a good idea to pack these items in a bag ahead of time so that you can grab them and go when it is time to come to the hospital. 

For your labour and delivery:

  • OHIP card
  • history/prenatal forms (if available)
  • a watch
  • lollipop or hard candy
  • lip balm
  • your favourite clear beverage
  • massage lotions (unscented)
  • comfortable clothing
  • slippers/sandals (with rubber soles)
  • camera
  • pen to complete forms
  • computer - WiFi internet access is available in all areas of the hospital

For your stay in the hospital:

  • OHIP card (also bring a photo ID if you still have one of the red and white OHIP cards)
  • personal hygiene items
  • comfortable clothing to wear
  • package of overnight or heavy flow sanitary pads
  • extra pairs of underwear to hold pads
  • slippers or comfortable shoes that are easy to put on
  • for breastfeeding - breast pads, nursing bra, lanolin cream
  • extra snacks

For your baby:

  • diapers,
  • baby wipes
  • vaseline
  • unscented baby soap/wash
  • baby clothing - sleepers, blankets
  • unscented baby shampoo
  • car seat
