Isolation units

Families and visitors with children in the Pediatric Program should be advised of our infection control policies before their visit.  For the safety of our patients, if you are not well, you must not visit.  It's important to remember that children are very vulnerable to infections.  For that reason, everyone who visits Pediatrics must follow strict hand hygiene guidelines.

Our Pediatric unit has eight isolation rooms, which are specially equipped and staffed for children with highly contagious infectious diseases, such as pandemic influenza. We also have a number of positive pressure and negative pressure rooms which help control the spread of bacteria and viruses. These state-of-the-art isolation units allow us provide the highest quality care and treatment for infants and children with serious or life-threatening infectious diseases as well as assure the safety of the health care team, other patients and families.
