Christopher Gillies

Christopher Gillies is the Vice President of Medical & Academic Affairs at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC). In this role, he oversees the operational and academic components of physicians, residents and fellows, medical students, all student placements, and physician assistants across the organization. His portfolio also includes leadership responsibility for Ambulatory Care Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Pharmacy, Clinical Laboratories, Health Information Services, Admitting, Registration, Infection Prevention and Control and the Provincial Ventilation Equipment Pool.
Christopher brings more than 20 years of progressive senior leadership experience in the healthcare sector. His extensive career includes serving as a previous Chief of Medical and Academic Affairs, Director of Medical Affairs, Regional Manager at the Ontario Medical Association, and Senior Director in the private sector. He has also held multiple leadership roles within the Ontario Ministry of Health, including Senior Hospital Consultant, and served as a member of the Supervisor/Investigator team appointed by the Ontario Government Cabinet to lead the restructuring of several Ontario hospitals.
He has completed executive-level education through Harvard University’s Executive Leadership Program and the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management’s Advanced Health Leadership Program. Christopher holds a Master’s Certificate in Health Care Management from York University, a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Windsor, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
In addition to his organizational leadership responsibilities, Christopher is actively engaged in provincial and national healthcare education and policy initiatives. He served as Co-Chair of the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) Provincial Education Committee for 10 years, Chair of the OHA Education Health Human Resources Working Group, and was a member of the Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine Postgraduate Medical Education Committee. He is also an Instructor and Lecturer with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), delivering specialized professional education and development programs.
