Mary Lou Toop is a respected healthcare leader who is passionate about helping organizations thrive through strong partnerships, sound financial stewardship, and a commitment to continuous improvement. As Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), she works closely with teams across the organization to support excellent patient care, research, education, and innovation. 

With more than 35 years of experience in Ontario's healthcare sector, Mary Lou has built a reputation as a thoughtful and collaborative leader who enjoys empowering teams to achieve meaningful and sustainable results. Before joining KHSC, she held executive financial leadership roles at several prominent healthcare organizations, including Women's College Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital (now Unity Health), Brant Community Healthcare System, St. John's Rehabilitation Hospital (merged with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre), Lakeridge Health, Markham Stouffville Hospital (now Oak Valley Health) and North York Branson Hospital (merged with North York General Hospital). 

Throughout her career, Mary Lou has contributed to the advancement of healthcare beyond the organizations she has served. She has participated in numerous provincial committees and working groups focused on health system funding, financial performance, and healthcare policy. Her leadership has helped shape funding approaches and practices that continue to support high-quality, sustainable healthcare across Ontario. 

Mary Lou is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders, and a long-serving member of the Board of Burman University. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Andrews University and has completed executive leadership programs at both the Ivey School of Business and the Rotman School of Management. 

Known for her integrity, strategic perspective, and genuine commitment to people, Mary Lou brings both experience and heart to her work. She believes that the strongest organizations are built through collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to serving patients, families, and communities.
