Valérie Gamache-O’Leary

Valérie Gamache-O’Leary is the Chief Information Officer for Kingston Health Sciences Centre and leads the CIO Portfolio, which includes Information Management, Information Security, Clinical Engineering, Privacy and Freedom of Information, and the Project Management Office. As CIO Val is accountable for setting digital health strategy, delivering high-quality digitally enabled solutions, providing corporate project management, and safeguarding information and digital assets. In her role she represents KHSC on regional and provincial teams, including the Regional HIS project, the Ontario Hospital East Region Digital Health Advisory Council and Cybersecurity Work Group, the OHT Digital Health Leads Working Group, the FLA OHT Digital Technologies support structure and LLG-HPE-FLA Joint OHT Digital Strategy Group.
Prior to joining KHSC, Val spent over 25 years at The Ottawa Hospital–one of the largest academic health science centres in Canada–where she held a series of information management leadership roles including CIO. In that role she was accountable for Information Services Strategic Planning, Portfolio and Program Management, Solution Delivery, Information Technology, and Admitting and Health Records. She was also the Program Executive for Connecting Northern and Eastern Ontario.
Val completed her Bachelor of Arts at Mount Allison University, and her Master of Business Administration and Ottawa Health Sciences Leadership Program at The University of Ottawa. She is currently a PhD candidate in Management at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business. Her research interest is information technology governance.
