If you have arrived at the hospital and are looking for a patient, please speak with a staff member or volunteer to inquire about your loved ones' location. We ask this because the location of your family member or friend could change between your visits. When looking to visit a patient, remember there are two main Intensive Care Units (ICUs) at Kingston Health Sciences Centre's Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site.
Kidd 2 ICU
The Kidd 2 ICU is located on the second floor of the Kidd-Davies Wing. It is most easily accessed through the main KGH site entrance, using the Kidd wing elevators. This 33-bed unit is separated into east and west wings. The east wing consists of beds numbered one to 17 and the west wing consists of beds numbered 18 to 33.
Our family lounge is located right outside of the ICU and this is the main entrance for family and visitors. A volunteer reception desk in the family lounge is staffed by a volunteer between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days per week. When you arrive, please speak with the volunteer who will check with the nurse to see if your loved one is able to have visitors.
If the volunteer is not there, please use the phone on the volunteer's desk to dial into the ICU. A member of our team will check with the nurse to confirm if your family member or friend is able to receive visitors. In order to provide safe and consistent care to all ICU patients, please notify the ICU nurse when you are visiting.
Davies 4 ICU
The Davies 4 ICU is located on the fourth floor of the Kidd-Davies wing. It is most easily accessed through the main KGH site entrance, using the Kidd wing elevators. There is a volunteer reception desk directly outside of the ICU. Please speak with the volunteer when you arrive so they can dial into the unit and speak to a nurse to confirm your loved one is able to see visitors.
When the volunteer is not at the desk, you may pick up the phone and speak to a staff member to confirm if you are able to visit your family member or friend at that time. In order to provide safe and consistent care to all ICU patients, it is important that you notify the ICU nurse when you are visiting.
