Award-winning actress Glenn Close dropped by Kingston General Hospital last week to take a tour of our Mental Health unit. Close, 66, was in town to receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Queen's University for her work in mental health and she was interested in seeing how our hospital supports our patients.

Close's many screen credits include "Fatal Attraction," "The Big Chill" and "Dangerous Liaisons" and recently she won an Emmy Award for her role as a litigator in the TV series, "Damages."

She is also a co-founder of Bring Change 2 Mind, a group dedicated to ending stigma and discrimination around mental health. During her speech to graduating students at Queen's, Close dedicated her degree to the thousands of people who have joined her organization's online community as well as members of her family who are living with mental illness.
