Despite having some of the oldest hospital facilities in Canada, KGH was recognized last week for our work to become one of the most energy efficient. MPP Sophie Kiwala as well as visitors from Utilities Kingston and the Independant Electricity System Operator toured the hospital to see all of the work KGH has done as part of our $10 million dollar facility upgrade.

As part of that work, KGH replaced more than 9,500 light fixtures, 250 windows in the Watkins wing as well as upgraded the building automation system, air handlers and boilers.

"Through this work we are saving nearly $800,000 annually that can be put back where it matters most - into patient care," says Allan McLuskie Director of Facilities.
