KGH and HDH annual reports now online

There’s no doubt that the 2016-2017 fiscal year will be one to remember for everyone that works, learns and volunteers at our two hospital sites. Between the creation of Kingston Health Sciences Centre and all the continuous work to improve the patient experience, there was much to celebrate.

Two documents that highlight our many achievements - the Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital annual reports - are now online and available to be read by everyone at KHSC as well as in the community.

The two documents also hold some historical significance.

“After years of providing annual reports, this is the final time that either site will do so as separate entities,” says Elizabeth Bardon, Vice-President of Missions, Strategy and Communications. “These two documents close an important chapter in our shared history. Moving forward we will produce one annual report to highlight all the positive work we’ll achieve together as KHSC.”

The two final annual reports spotlight the impressive achievements of our staff. At the KGH site this includes the adoption of new surgical technologies and approaches, construction of the W.J. Henderson Centre for Patient Oriented Research as well as the work to deliver our Phase 2 Redevelopment project plans to the Ministry this fall.

At the HDH site patients and families remained at the core of successes such as bringing weight loss surgery under our roof to provide the full continuum of bariatric care, expanding chronic pain services to better equip patients to manage their pain and introducing a new breast reconstruction surgery program.

“This past year has seen a lot of change. While much time was focused on our integration, staff across both hospital sites continued to develop new and innovative ways to deliver patient care and make our organizations great places to work,” says Bardon. “We couldn’t have achieved all this without the dedication of everyone at all levels of our organization. Thank you.”
