President and CEO Dr. David Pichora and Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick, Chief of Staff and Executive Vice-President Medical and Academic Affairs, have been reappointed to Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s (KHSC) executive team for a second five-year term.

“I’m pleased with the reappointments of Dr. Pichora and Dr. Fitzpatrick, and look forward to their continued leadership,” said Axel Thesberg, Chair of KHSC’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Pichora and Dr. Fitzpatrick have held their positions since 2017, when the Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital (KGH) came together to form Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

During Dr. Pichora’s leadership, he has led the organization through the creation of a bold strategic plan, successfully achieving full accreditation, and adding a number of new programs, innovations and increased funding streams.  

“KHSC’s achievements during my first term would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of so many staff, physicians, learners and volunteers who live KHSC’s mission of caring for each other each and every day,” said Dr. Pichora.

Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick, Chief of Staff and Executive Vice-President Medical and Academic Affairs

Throughout Dr. Fitzpatrick’s initial term as the first Chief of Staff for the newly created KHSC, Board Chair Thesberg says he has been an invaluable resource to the board in terms of furthering KHSC’s quality agenda. “Mike has a way of sharing information and engaging board members in important conversations about the quality of care provided at KHSC.”    

As a member of the executive team at KHSC, in addition to providing medical leadership, Dr. Fitzpatrick also oversees KHSC’s clinical innovation work and leads his diverse portfolio in supporting KHSC’s success in its corporate goals, mission, vision, values and culture.
