The cookies have been sold, the donations have been counted and once again Tim Hortons has wrapped up another successful Smile Cookie campaign. This year the campaign raised over $71,000 to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at KGH.

The cookies were sold the week of September 12 at most Tim Hortons locations in Kingston, including the locations inside KGH. One dollar from the sale of each cookie was donated towards the campaign.

“The Smile Cookie campaign is a wonderful example of our community coming together to help support our most fragile patients,” says University Hospitals Kingston Foundation President and CEO Denise Cumming. “We are so grateful for the ongoing success of Smile Cookie week.”

The money will help support a planned future renovation of the NICU.

"One of the most significant challenges facing the NICU is space,” says Dr. Kim Dow. “In the future, we’re planning to expand the unit into a space that can be better designed to support the needs of our babies and their families.”

Over the past four years, local Tim Hortons have donated over $280,000 to the NICU through the Smile Cookie campaign.
