The Child & Youth Mental Health Eating Disorder Clinic is located on Brock 5 of Kingston Health Sciences Centre's Hotel Dieu Hospital site. It is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary and specialized program that provides assessment and treatment for children and youth with eating disorders. The team consists of a child psychiatrist, a pediatrician, a behavioural therapist, a registered dietitian, a social worker, and a nurse practitioner. The team works with children, youth and their families to create specific treatment goals to correct medical complications, restore body weight and promote normal growth and development, regulate eating patterns, and treat underlying mental health issues.
Treatment is family based and includes family therapy, family based dialectical behavioural therapy (when appropriate), individual therapy, nutritional education and support, health monitoring, and medication monitoring.
Adjunct therapy may also include meal support, telephone support, and parent support group.
