Pediatrics Referrals
Pediatric referrals, including those for all medical subspecialties except Genetics and Kids Inclusive, should be sent to the corresponding contact information listed below.
Referrals that are sent to General Consulting Pediatrics will be directed as needed to the appropriate specialist.
Referrals to Genetics, Kids Inclusive and to pediatric surgical specialties are separately listed.
Referrals are accepted for patients up to their 18th birthday.
eReferrals are accepted via Ocean eReferral for enabled practitioners. If you are an enabled practitioner using an integrated EMR, refer through your EMR’s Ocean toolbar which will take you into the Ocean Healthmap where you will be signed in.
If not yet Ocean-enabled, please fax the referral to 1-855-228-9737 using the referral template provided below:

All referrals should be accompanied, where available, by complete information on the reason for referral, demographics (including guardianship status if known), relevant laboratory and imaging results, immunization records and growth charts/records.
Pediatrics Urgent Contact Information
Call KHSC switchboard at 613-549-6666 and press 8 and ask for the Pediatrician on Call. This service is available 24/7.
Referrals for potential Pediatric Critical Care or Neonatal Intensive Care admission should be made by contacting Criticall Ontario at 1-800-668-4357. These services are available 24/7.
Same day consultation and advice from a pediatrician is available weekdays 0900h-1600h in the Children’s Outpatient Centre (COPC) at the Hotel Dieu Hospital site for very urgent problems. These referrals should be discussed in advance with the pediatrician on duty by calling 613-544-1365. Referrals for patients being sent to COPC for walk-in same day consultation after discussion with the pediatrician on duty should be faxed to 613-544-8320.
