The Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is made up of at least 12 former patients or family members with lived experience receiving care at KHSC sites, along with three staff members. Council members bring diverse perspectives from across the care continuum, including medicine, emergency and urgent care, surgery, cardiology, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, critical care, pediatrics, and outpatient services.
The Council is co-chaired by a Patient Experience Advisor and the Patient and Family- Centred Care Lead, and includes ex-officio staff members, including Chief of Staff Dr. Mike Fitzpatrick and Director of Patient Safety, Quality and Risk.
Additional Program PFACs:
South East Regional Cancer Program PFAC
The South East Regional Cancer Program brings together patients, family members, and caregivers who use their lived experience to help improve cancer services and the patient experience across the south east region. Members provide input on everything from care planning and program improvements to recruitment and decision-making, ensuring the patient voice is part of the conversation.
Patient Experience Advisors also contribute beyond the Council, serving on key service-based and corporate committees such as the Patient Care and Quality Committee of the Board and the Patient Safety, Quality, Risk Executive Committee.
