Speech language pathologists (SLPs) identify, assess, and treat communication and swallowing disorders. They support patients through evidence-informed care and best practice, helping people eat & swallow safely, and understand & express clearly.

Services
We provide outpatient speech language pathology services for:
- Adults with voice concerns
- Adults with swallowing problems (instrumental swallowing assessment)
- Patients with head and neck cancer, including laryngectomy
- Specialty clinic support including cleft lip and palate, hearing and development, voice, and neonatal follow-up clinic
Preparation
Please bring:
- a list of current medications including inhalers and over-the-counter medications.
- your appointment slip which includes the time and date of your appointment
- your Health Card (OHIP card)
- You are welcome to bring a family member or friend for support or personal assistance. They are welcome to attend your clinic visit with you if you wish. You may also want to bring a snack in case your clinic appointment is delayed or runs late.
What you can expect
- Swallowing assessments take place in the diagnostic imaging department.
- Most new patient exams take 1-2 hours, depending on the service.
