Kingston General Hospital was again named as one of Canada’s top research hospitals on Research InfoSource’s List of Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals for 2014. Research InfoSource is Canada's source of Research and Development Intelligence.
With its 148 active researchers, KGH ranked 27th overall. “Amid an increasingly challenging funding landscape, our researchers continue to reach towards our 2015 research targets of increasing research revenue by 50 per cent, cultivating important patient-oriented research, attracting top talent and increasing the profile of the KGH Research Institute,” says Dr. Roger Deeley, Vice-President of Health Sciences Research at KGH and President of the KGH Research Institute.
Research InfoSource’s Top 40 Research Hospitals is a barometer for the research hospital sector in Canada. It is a helpful tool to measure the contribution of Canada’s research hospitals to Canada’s innovation ecosystem. “Health research makes Canada healthier, wealthier and smarter,” says Karen Michell, Executive Director, Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario. “It leads to better care at reduced cost, new economic opportunities through research and commercialization and evidence-informed ways of improving patient care.”
