Effective immediately masking is required for everyone when present on all inpatient units, in the Emergency Department (ED), the Urgent Care Centre (UCC), and the Children’s Outpatient Centre (COPC).
The Nickle wing opened in April 1891. It was named after William Nickle, a local businessman, who died in 1890 and left $10,000 in his will for the building of a wing that would be dedicated to the treatment of infectious diseases. The wing was built as a separate building from the rest of the hospital, accessible by open walkways, as it was used as an isolation facility.
