In 1905 the hospital's School of Nursing graduated 15 nurses with 14 more graduating in 1906.
By the turn of the century, nursing school graduations weren’t complete without a graduation photo. The hospital’s photographer of choice for years was H. Henderson. However, this photo was taken by Henderson’s rival, C.H. Boyes, in the photographer’s studio when 3 students from the class of 1905 and 3 from 1906 pooled their resources. Dressed in uniform, the young women are captured in a fanciful but decidedly ‘unprofessional’ pose, a testament to the strong friendships that were forged among nursing students, living and working together.
