Karen Humphreys Blake
Karen Humphreys Blake is the hospital foundation cross representative on the KHSC board. Karen had a long career in communications and public relations, ultimately serving at senior levels in government and health care. She also gained experience in fundraising management and was involved in the founding of the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) in the early 2000s. Karen served as interim President and CEO of UHKF in 2019. She currently works as an adjunct lecturer at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s where she teaches a core undergraduate course entitled Business for Good. Over the past decade Karen has also taught Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility and Organizational Behaviour. She holds a master’s degree in communications and management from McMaster University.
Karen has been involved in the governance of many community organizations. In recent years she has served as a board member with Kingston and Frontenac Housing Corporation, as board vice chair of Kingston and Frontenac Mental Health and Addiction Services and as chair of the Central Collaborative Governance Forum of the Southeast LHIN. She joined the UHKF Board in 2020 and led the Strategic Planning Committee in 2021 and has since been a member of the Human Resources, Board Development and Nomination, and Governance committees.
