There are a variety of parking options around the Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site. While the hospital itself only operates a small number of parking spaces, the City of Kingston has a number of on-street and municipal lot parking options to choose from. Main Entrance Parking

There are several small 'Pay and Display' parking spots located outside of the main Kidd-Davies entrance off of Stuart Street. In this area there are a total of 19 general parking spaces, 3 accessible spaces, and 2 spaces for asthma patients with permits only. Parking fees in this area are $3.50 per hour.

To use these spaces:

  • Pay for your parking at one of the two 'Pay & Display' machines. Both machines accept coins, Visa or MasterCard. 
  • Take your receipt from the machine and place it face up on your dashboard.

Underground Parking

The Stuart Street underground parking garage is located off of Stuart Street, directly across from the hospital’s main Kidd-Davies entrance. It is open 24 hours-a-day, seven days-per-week. Once you are in the garage, you can access the hospital by using the stairs to get back to ground level and crossing the street, or by using the underground accessible tunnel that connects to the hospital. Each level of the parking garage is identified by colour. Seven accessible parking spaces are located on the red level, near the entrance to the pedestrian tunnel.

There are several payment options for you to choose from, either for short-term or long-term parking. They are:

  • Daily: $1.50 per 30 minutes. Daily maximum: $20
    • Take a ticket when you enter the garage.
    • Before you leave the garage, take your ticket to one of the pay stations located inside the garage or at exit. Insert your ticket into the pay station and pay the amount owing using credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or debit at pay station. Cash is not accepted. 
    • Once the ticket is paid for, the machine will give it back to you. Use this ticket to exit the garage.  
  • Multi-day discounted pass
    • If you are planning to be at the hospital on a more regular basis, you can purchase a multi-day discounted parking pass for the underground garage. The passes are discounted by 50 per cent and are available for patients and visitors only. The passes can be purchased in 5, 10 and 30 day increments. 

      • 5 day cost = $46.10

      • 10 day cost = $92.20 (you will receive two five-day passes)

      • 30 day cost = $276.60 (you will receive six five-day passes for a total of 30 days)

    • The pass can be purchased from the Cashier's Office located inside the KGH site's main entrance during regular business hours using debit, credit or cash. A receipt can be provided. On evenings and weekends, parking passes may be purchased from the Security Operations Centre, also located inside the main entrance. Passes purchased from Security must be paid for in cash.
    • Passes do not have to be used on consecutive days, which means you could use the pass anytime up to one year after its purchase date.
    • Your vehicle can leave and enter anytime throughout one 24-hour period. If your vehicle is in the garage for more than 24 hours, the next day of your pass will begin. 
    • The pass allows for one car only to park at a time. 

    • On entrance to the garage please take a white ticket at the gate. When the gate raises, you can enter garage and park. On exit, insert the white ticket and then follow with validation coupon.

    • Should the garage be full, please show your pass to the attendant on the ramp and they will allow you entry to the garage. 

    • The passes are non-refundable.

Waterfront / Richardson Beach Lot

There are two municipal parking lots located off of King Street West. Parking is available in both using the 'Pay & Display' machine located in each lot between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Pay & Display machine accepts coins and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard). These lots have a maximum three-hour parking limit. 

  • Waterfront lot: 52 spaces - $2 per hour
  • Richardson Beach lot: 28 spaces - $2 per hour

On-Street Parking

On-street parking is available in many areas within a short distance of the KGH site. These spaces are operated by the City of Kingston. The maximum length of stay is 3 hours and vehicles may not be parked in these spaces longer than the maximum time allowed. The cost for on-street metered parking is $2 an hour between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. Click here for a map of the streets around the KGH site. 

Emergency Parking

There are four spaces directly outside the Emergency Department entrance. You can use these spaces if you:

  • Are picking up or dropping off a patient (10 minute parking limit).
  • If you have driven yourself to the Emergency Department and are unable to move your vehicle under your own power.
