Discovery today, treatment tomorrow
From lifesaving drugs to improved bedside practice, better patient care at KHSC is made possible because of the involvement of people like you.
Every day, in departments across our hospital, patients, family members and volunteers play a crucial role in helping our researchers and their teams find new and better ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating disease.
Your involvement in our research makes a difference to everyone.
Why patient-oriented research?
Patient perspectives are critical to research. Patient involvement helps doctors and researchers ask the right questions, collect the right information, and focus on the results that lead to better treatments and care.
How to Take Part in Research
- Research studies, which ask you to answer a questionnaire or survey about your condition;
- Studies that ask you to contribute blood, urine or tissue samples to a specimen or genetic database; and.
- Studies (also called “clinical trials”) that compare one kind of treatment to another, such as drugs, devices, or surgical procedures.
Are you interested in participating in a clinical trial? Will you help shape the treatments of tomorrow? Every clinical trial needs people just like you!
