We are aware of an ongoing issue affecting some incoming calls to KHSC. Individuals calling from mobile phones may experience their calls being unexpectedly dropped. If you are unable to reach us by phone, please try calling back using an alternate phone number.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound exams are imaging studies that use sound waves to look at soft tissues in your body. Each year about 25,000 ultrasound studies are performed at KHSC. While most often associated with pregnancy, ultrasounds are also used to look at:
- Abdomen
- Bladder
- Muscles of the extremities
- Veins and arteries
KGH's Fetal Assessment Unit performs the majority of the ultrasounds for expectant parents and the Vascular Lab performs vascular imaging. To help you prepare for your ultrasound, we have an Ultrasound Inpatient preparation sheet as well as an Ultrasound Outpatient preparation sheet.
