WSIB Specialty Program

In partnership with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), the WSIB Specialty Program assesses patients with a workplace injury and provides treatment recommendations to support their recovery and return-to-work plan.

Referrals 

Patients require a referral from the case management team at WSIB.

If you are a family doctor seeking WSIB Specialty Program services for your patient with a workplace injury, please fax a referral with the claim number clearly identified directly to WSIB at 416-344-4684.

Services 

  • Comprehensive assessments
  •  Functional treatment plans (ie. Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy)
  • Return-to-work recommendations
  • Diagnostic testing

Preparation 

When you come to your appointment, please bring: 

  • The phone number and address of your family doctor and/or treating therapist.
  • A list of medications you are currently taking.
  • Reading glasses if required.
  • Imaging files (e.g. x-rays, MRI, CT) that have been completed since time of injury.
  • Any aids or adaptations that you have been using for your injury (e.g. wrist splints or shoulder slings).

What you can expect 

  • Your appointment can last up to two hours 
  • We may need to do additional testing
  • After your assessment, you will receive a summary report outlining your treatment and return-to-work recommendations. A copy of this report will be sent to your family doctor and to your WSIB case manager.
