Respiratory Investigation Unit:
The Respiratory Investigation Unit studies the mechanical, chemical and psychological mechanisms of respiratory discomfort and activity limitation in patients with cardiorespiratory disease.
RIU researchers study breathing discomfort and activity limitation in patients with a variety of cardiorespiratory diseases (emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, COPD etc.)

Asthma Research Unit:
The Asthma Research Unit is part of the KGH Asthma Program. ARU staff collaborate with many researchers at other centres as part of research networks and team grants. ARU research includes:
- asthma symptom perception and lung mechanics
- cough variant asthma
- asthma epidemiology (practice patterns and outcomes research)
- asthma guidelines implementation and knowledge translation (eg. care maps, electronic care tools and indicators for electronic medical records)
- asthma management (clinical trials and asthma education)

The Laboratory of Clinical Exercise Physiology in Chronic Cardiopulmonary Diseases (LACEP) studies patients with both heart and lung disease, with the goal of better understanding how the various systems within the body work together under the stress of physical exercise.
