‘Top Canadian’ award for KGH’s supply chain services partner 3SO

Millions in efficiency savings helping to support patient care

KGH’s supply chain services partner Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario (3SO) has been recognized as the ‘Top Canadian Healthcare Supply Chain Organization.’  The award recognizes 3SO’s work to improve operational performance and reduce costs through supply chain automation.

The award that recognizes 3SO’s efforts to drive down costs by using innovative, leading practices and systems is awarded by Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), a healthcare technology and services company that helps finds ways to reduce the cost of doing business in healthcare.

“Finding new ways to reduce the costs of doing business in healthcare is more important than ever,” says Jim Flett, Chief Operating Officer. “Together KGH and 3SO have worked to improve operational performance and drive down costs. Since the inception of 3SO, this translated into $8,831,000 in annual cumulative savings for KGH – funds which are now used to support other costs of patient care.”

Finding those efficiencies and savings was one of the main reasons behind the formation of the Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario (3SO) in 2008. A not-for-profit shared service organization, 3SO reduces total supply chain costs, which equates to direct savings for the seven regional healthcare organizations it includes.

Last year, 3SO became the first Canadian organization to win the prestigious “Best 50” award in North America as well as “Top Canadian”.  This is the second year in a row that 3SO has received this acclaim.
