Kingston General Hospital (KGH) has increased its research income by 3.1 per cent, to more than $22.9 million in 2012, according to the latest survey by Research Infosource – Canada's source of Research and Development Intelligence. The increase in research income means that KGH has risen in rank for the third year in a row from 27th to 23rd to 22nd position on Research Infosource’s List of Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals 2013.
The increase in total research income for Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals was a healthy 4.6 per cent for fiscal 2012 compared to only 0.7 per cent in fiscal 2011.
“When we determined our 2015 research targets, we set our sights on increasing research revenue by 50 per cent. Based on our results for fiscal 2013, we are well on our way to achieving, and possibly surpassing, that goal – despite an increasingly challenging funding landscape.” says Dr. Roger Deeley, Vice President of Health Sciences Research at KGH, and President of the KGH Research Institute. “It’s very satisfying to see that the investments we and our partners have made in research are literally paying off.”
