The KGH Board of Directors has appointed Jim Flett as the hospital's interim President and CEO starting on January 1, 2016. It is part of a plan worked out by the board and the senior management team to ensure a smooth transition period before a new permanent CEO is hired.

“As our current Chief Operating Officer, Jim has played a key leadership role in KGH’s transformation over the past seven years,” says Scott Carson, Board Chair. “His deep knowledge and experience in our organization and the current environment in which we are operating will ensure we have the right leadership in place to see us through this transitional period.”

Flett is an experienced senior executive with 29 years of experience in hospital administration, having held executive positions at London Health Sciences Centre, St. Joseph's Health Care London, and The Toronto Hospital (now University Health Network).

After almost seven years on the job as our President and CEO, Leslee Thompson will soon be taking on a new challenge as the CEO of Accreditation Canada. She starts there on February 1.

“We are grateful that Leslee has agreed to stay on a special advisor to the KGH Board during the month of January,” says Carson.

As for next steps in the search for a permanent CEO, the process is being informed by the work being done through the Health Care Tomorrow – Hospital Services initiative in which all seven hospitals, the CCAC and SE LHIN are exploring opportunities to share hospital services and expand on existing collaborations.
