There were a number of Kingston General Hospital Relay for Life team members on hand for the presentation of funds raised during the 2013 event held in June. The KGH teams collectively raised $29,672.32.

"When people join together with a real passion, energy and enthusiasm, it's amazing what can happen." says Leslee Thompson, CEO of KGH. "Within the hospital, we will continue to grow this partnership with UHKF and The Canadian Cancer Society. Our mission is to create a community of people and that's what an event like Relay for Life does."

A portion of the money will be used to purchase 12 sleeper chairs which will help family members to stay overnight with their loved ones while they are undergoing cancer treatment at KGH.

The remainder of the money will be used for three service carts which will provide nourishment and refreshment to patients and families within the Palliative Care program.

The highest earning KGH team was the "KGH Medicine Rocks" team, raising $6,823. This earned them a spot in the Top 5 Kingston teams during this year's event.
