Dr. David Maslove:
David Maslove is a Clinician Scientist with the Departments of Medicine and Critical Care Medicine, and an Internist and Intensivist at Kingston General Hospital. Dr. Maslove completed medical school and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto. He trained in Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University where he also undertook graduate studies in Biomedical Informatics. He collaborates with critical care and informatics specialists both in Canada and abroad, and is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association, the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Maslove's research focuses on informatics, genomics, and the use of biomedical Big Data to address current challenges in Critical Care Medicine. His work involves capturing and analyzing massive volumes of detailed electronic data derived from patients in intensive care to understand more about the nature and progression of acute illnesses. Maslove hopes to identify the differences, rather than the similarities, between critically ill patients who may have been categorized as having the same condition. His long-term goal is a database of genomic, physiologic, and other ICU patient data that can be used by physicians and nurses at the bedside to make better treatment decisions in real time.
