Bio

Dr. Dow is a graduate of the Queen's School of Medicine, completed her residency training in Pediatrics at Queen's and her fellowship in neonatology at Harvard University. She is a past Head of the Department.

She has been a member of a number of external bodies such as the Steering Committee Canadian Pediatric Surveillance Program and the Provincial Council for Maternal Child Health. She serves on both the Canadian Neonatal Network and Evidence Based Practice for Improving Quality (EPIQ) Steering Committeea and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Pediatric Society. 

Her work in neonatology includes attending and on call responsibilities in the neonatal intensive care unit as well asantenatal consultations and normal newborn care. She is the Medical Director of the NICU at KHSC. Her current work in education includes acting as a resident mentor and research supervisor and establishment of neonatal fellowship for trainees from International Neonatal Training Program, a joint venture between the CNN and Fudan University. She is the academic advisor for the PGY2 residents in the Department of Pediatrics and a member of the residency competency committee.

Research

Dr. Dow has extensive research, presentation, and publication history in the field of neonatology. Her current research interests focus on quality improvement in neonatal care, including a first-in-Canada research project in a neonatal intensive care unit, using a nipple monitoring device as a potential routine diagnostic tool in oral feeding high risk infants.
