Bio

Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick is a graduate of University College Dublin, Ireland. His postgraduate clinical and research training was completed at University College Dublin and at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a Royal College certified specialist in internal medicine and respirology, and an American Board-certified sleep specialist. Dr. Fitzpatrick is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at Queen’s University. He is Chair of the Division of Respirology at Queen’s University and in September 2014 took up the position as Chief of Staff/Chief of Medical and Academic Affairs at Hotel Dieu Hospital. In 2017 Dr. Fitzpatrick became the Chief of Staff and Vice-President, Medical Affairs for the Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

Research

Dr. Fitzpatrick is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at Queen’s University. His research interests are in upper airway physiology and in the diagnostic and management pathways for obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Fitzpatrick is a clinician scholar and has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and 5 book chapters, along with numerous abstracts and editorials.
