Heather brings 25-plus years of exemplary service in clinical leadership, strategic development, and partnership cultivation within health, mental health, and addiction sectors. She has successfully worked in health service provider, government and academic settings. As a strategic thinker, innovator and network builder, Heather is recognized for bridging gaps between the worlds of health care delivery, policy and research.
Most recently, Heather served as Vice President of Partnerships and Chief Strategy Officer at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, where she spearheaded initiatives to enhance system partnerships and foster equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. Her strategic insights and commitment to leveraging patient and family expertise have been instrumental in transforming health system dynamics towards more integrated and responsive services. Additionally, Heather has successfully supported a wide array of systems partnerships and integrated clinical programs, including with Indigenous organizations and as a core member of the Couchiching Ontario Health Team. Her strategic accomplishments include leading the development and implementation of the organizational strategic enabling plans. Heather is also a member of several Ontario Health regional and provincial committees, working to support its efforts in policy implementation and health system transformation. She previously worked at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), the McMaster Health Forum, and Rapid Improvement Supports and Exchange (RISE).
In addition to her leadership in health systems, Heather is an internationally recognized scholar and Assistant Professor (PT) at the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University. As part of her recently completed doctoral studies she was awarded the prestigious national Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. Her research interests lie in how large jurisdictions implement evidence-informed policy directions in mental health systems. Heather also serves in a voluntary advisory and governance capacity for several provincial, national, and international organizations including Georgian College, Head2Core and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Queen's University, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Policy from McMaster University.
