While you are in surgery, your loved ones are encouraged to leave the hospital and are welcome to wait in our waiting rooms:
Kingston General Hospital site
Located in the Same Day Admission Centre on Connell 2.
Hotel Dieu Hospital site
Located outside our Day Surgery Unit on the second floor of the Jeanne Mance wing.
Tracking surgery progress
Your loved ones may track your surgery's progress using our SmarTrack system.
There is a large screen in each waiting area that will display coded information that is updated as your surgery takes place. Your family will receive a card from the registration staff that provides all the information they will need to follow the progress of your surgery, as you move from pre-surgery, surgery, to recovery.
Your loved ones will be notified when they may visit you in the recovery room, inpatient room, or pick you up if you are not staying overnight.
