The Kingston General Hospital Nutrition Services department is savouring a new award. The Atrium Café has been given a bronze certificate in the 'Eat Smart! Award of Excellence' program.

The program is run by public health units across the province. It aims to encourage workplaces to create more healthy food choices for both staff and visitors.

"This award is timely recognition for the work we're doing to develop more healthy menu choices, such as whole wheat buns, pasta and pizza dough, as well as vegetarian pizza, low-fat dairy choices and a range of healthy snacks," says Sheri Campbell, Director of Nutrition Services. "We've also received some good feedback about the many salads, fresh fruit and sushi choices we are presenting to our customers."

The awards also reward workplaces for demonstrating a strong track record in food safety. To learn more about the award, visit www.EatSmartOntario.ca
