The aim of the KGH Connect event series is to bring everyone up to date on the latest happenings at KGH. A full house showed up for the most recent evening event.
It was held in Memorial Hall in Kingston City Hall on Thursday, April 26. President and CEO Leslee Thompson took to the stage to share the KGH turnaround story with the crowd. This "Mission Possible" began three years when Thompson first arrived at KGH. Under her leadership the hospital immediately set out on a bold new path. Since then, a lot has changed at KGH, including: The elimination of the hospital's $24-million operating deficitA big increase in the amount of money KGH can now spend on new capital equipment, technology and infrastructureSignificant improvements in infection control and hand hygiene rates The creation of the Patient and Family Advisory Council The creation of a new interprofessional model of care that puts the patient in the centre of the care teamImproved food for both patients and staffThe completion of a $196-million redevelopment project, on time and on budget These and other improvements have left KGH well-positioned to deliver leading edge patient-centred care in a rapidly shifting health care landscape.
After her presentation, Thompson then opened the floor to questions from the audience.
