Kingston, ONT. – For the ninth consecutive year, Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has been named one of the Top 40 research hospitals in Canada.
The annual list compiled by Re$earch Infosource ranks hospitals across the country based on total research spending and research intensity. This year, KHSC moved up to No. 26 in overall rankings driven by a significant increase in research spending.
"This was a great year for research at Kingston Health Sciences Centre,” Re$earch Infosource CEO Ron Freedman says.
“KHSC achieved not only a jump of 27 per cent in research income, but a leap of three positions in the national ranking,” Freedman adds. “Congratulations to KHSC’s researchers, technicians and technologists, and research administration."

Kingston General Health Research Institute (KGHRI)is the research arm of of KHSC, and collaborates with Queen’s University and Providence Care Hospital in its research mission. KGHRI is home to over 370 researchers who are actively involved in research projects, including a range of COVID-19 health issues, such as small molecule therapies, testing, mental health impacts and biosensor tools. Additionally, >180 new clinical trials involve collaborative efforts with regional, provincial, national, and international hospitals and universities.
