Your safety is important and to help keep you safe, we have a number of safety measures in place in the Diagnostic Imaging departments at KHSC.
One of the most important things we can do is to make sure you are protected from infection while you are in the hospital. We adhere to all standard infection control precautions and our technologists and radiologists follow the best practice hand washing guidelines. We encourage you and your family members to wash your hands as often as possible. We have numerous hand washing stations that you can use throughout the hospital. If you are sick and not sure if you should go ahead with your examination, please contact our reception desk at the KGH site 613-549-6666 extension 2301 or HDH site 613-544-3400 extension 3020 or speak to your doctor. If you would like more information about hand hygiene at KHSC please visit our hand hygiene compliance page.
In cases that require sterile techniques or methods, (i.e. interventional radiology and angiography) our staff are trained in how to protect you from infection as well as set-up and cleanup methods when performing exams in a sterile environment. You can also read more about the safety precautions in place in the use of imaging contrast in procedures (X-ray dye) and information about radiation exposure.
If you are pregnant and would like more information about the precautions we take in the Imaging department to protect you and your baby, you can find more information on our pregnancy and various tests page.
