Multiple streets will be closed as Queen’s University students move-in

Thousands of Queen’s University students will be moving into residences around campus this weekend. As a result on Sunday, Sept. 4 a number of streets in the area will be closed or reduced to one lane, and Kingston Transit buses will not stop at their normal locations around the hospital.

Anyone who needs to come to the hospital may need to plan their route ahead of time and is encouraged to read the following information on how to get to, or from KGH on Sunday.

Road Closures and Delays:

  • Collingwood Street will be one-way southbound from King to Union on Sunday, Sept. 4. Overnight parking restrictions will begin 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Cars remaining on the street on Sept. 4 may be towed.
  • Albert Street will be one-way southbound from Queen's Crescent to King from 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept 4. Overnight parking restrictions begin 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Cars remaining on the street on Sept. 4 may be towed.
  • St. Lawrence Avenue from Stuart to King will be one-way southbound from 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4.
  • Bader Lane will be closed for one-way traffic westbound at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3.
  • Queen's Crescent will be closed at Beverly and Collingwood (local traffic only)
  • Stuart Street will be one-way westbound from University to Lower Albert starting 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4. Overnight parking restrictions will begin 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Cars remaining on the street on Sept. 4 may be towed.
  • Arch Street will be closed at Union as of 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.
  • George Street will be closed at Stuart as of 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.
  • O'Kill Street will be one-way eastbound from George to Barrie as of 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.
  • University Avenue will be one-way eastbound from Union to Stuart as of 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.

Kingston Transit service:

  • Kingston Transit buses will not stop outside of KGH starting in the morning on Sunday Sept. 4 until approximately 5:00 p.m.
  • A Kingston Transit shuttle bus will run between KGH and the downtown transfer point on Bagot Street during this time. The shuttle will make regular pick-ups and drop-offs at the express route stop outside of KGH.
  • Riders may also wish to walk from stops at Brock/Johnson Streets and University Ave. (All buses, including Express, will be directed to stop at University in both directions.)
